In a technology-driven world, students should have chances at school to tinker, design, program, build and refine. Robotics clubs, coding days and related activities can help accomplish this quickly evolving field.

This workshop will give participants the opportunities to play with robots using the Lego WeDo and Mindstorms education kits and the accompanying block programming apps and software. It will provide time to discuss with participants the cross curricular opportunities that such robotic programs could have both within the classroom and beyond. It will also show how robotics can be learnt and taught by programming novices with loads of enthusiasm.

Outcomes:
Participants will take away:
1. An excitement for tinkering/making/designing and examples of how to pass this excitement on to students of all ages and abilities.
2. An example of how programming novices are able to expose students to programming and design concepts and skills.
3. The opportunity to get creative and interact with Lego We do and Mindstorms materials and curriculum.
4. Ideas for how robotics can be integrated into a variety of school settings including and not limited to classroom inquiry, mathematics, science, ICT, coding and after school activities.
